Your little blog, here, is a huge find for me! Everything you talk about: thriftiness, homemaking, meal planning, etc. is so very challenging - I have never, unfortunately, been good at any of the above. Do you plan on writing about Lenten meals? I would love to here your perspective on shopping for and preparing Lenten foods for a family.
I'll certainly be posting my weekly lenten menus. I haven't really thought ahead to the specifics, yet, but I'm sure Lent and meals and thrift will intertwine in some interesting ways. I'm afraid, though, that I'm not really experienced with what real kids (those who aren't still nursing) eat during Lent, though. Maggie subsists on rice or noodles for most meals when it's NOT a fast.
And you're right: homemaking IS challenging. Despite my earlier post, I am still in a "not-motivated funk," partially brought on by the sporadic demands of a toddler who's recovering from some illness. And when we look around and the world tells us how much we are supposed to be doing OUTSIDE the home with our kids and families, and we pile that on top of what it takes to run a household on a small budget with no "hired help" to do some of the work.... I think you know what I'm talking about!
Wife to a wonderful man and priest in the Orthodox Church, which apparently makes me a Khouria. Mom of two girls and two little boys. Trying to raise obedient, courteous, orderly, happy children; trying to instill in them a lifelong faith in Christ Jesus and love for the Orthodox Church; and trying to better understand how to be and have all these things myself as well.
